CORPORATE SOCIAL INVESTMENT
Nedbank remains aware of its responsibility to the people of Swaziland and conducts many social responsibility activities in the areas of education, community development, sports and the arts.
EDUCATION
Nedbank presented a sponsorship of E170 000 to the University of Swaziland Foundation as part of its ongoing commitment to the development of education in the country.
ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT
Nedbank Swaziland partnered with TechnoServe to support the ‘Believe, Begin, Become’ National Business Plan Competition, which aims to promote entrepreneurship in Swaziland.
Upliftment of women
The annual Businesswoman of the Year Awards were again sponsored by Nedbank, with the main objective of recognising women’s achievements and the contribution they have made in society. These awards have gained much credibility over the years.

THE ARTS
Nedbank Swaziland has supported the Kip Kip dance group since its inception in 2006. This year the sponsorship enabled the children to attend the Grahamstown Arts Festival in South Africa.
SPORT
Nedbank Swaziland partners with the Swaziland Tourism Authority and golfers throughout the country in an effort to develop golf in the region. The annual Golf Cup attracts tourists from the SADC region and around the world and is aimed at enhancing the country’s profile in the region as a golfing destination.
Nedbank also sponsored the Swaziland National Swimming Association, providing the national swimming team with uniforms for use in international competitions during the next three years.
ENVIRONMENT
The 2008 Nedbank Mountain Bike Classic was a great success. The sport is growing rapidly, with more and more cyclists participating each year. The proceeds from the event went towards nature conservation projects.
STAFF PARTICIPATION
Nedbank Swaziland staff established the Nedstaff Charity Club to contribute to raise funds – mainly through monthly staff contributions – in support of the Swaziland Association for Crime Prevention and Rehabilitation of Offenders (SACRO). In Mbabane SACRO also provides meals for street children.
HIV/AIDS PROGRAMME
The bank continues to address the challenge of HIV/ Aids in a positive, supportive and non-discriminatory manner, with a focus on appropriate education, training and counselling for employees. We recognise the seriousness of HIV/Aids and the impact it has on the workplace and the lives of staff. In 2008 the bank conducted an HIV prevalence survey to assist with forecasting and planning for potential future risks associated with HIV for the business. In partnership with the Business Coalition Against HIV/Aids, Nedbank Swaziland conducts voluntary counselling and testing campaigns for staff on a quarterly basis.
