NEDBANK MALAWI LIMITED
CORPORATE SOCIAL INVESTMENT
Nedbank Malawi undertook the following corporate social investment initiatives:
HIV/AIDS
Nedbank Malawi is a member of the Malawi Business Coalition Against HIV/Aids, which affords the bank access to information on various workplace programmes, including where to obtain resources, technical assistance on workplace programme development, inhouse training programmes, research and support – all of which are being applied to help make Nedbank Malawi ‘the best place to work’.
ENVIRONMENT
Run for Wild Life
Following the success of the first Run for Wildlife event in 2007, Nedbank Malawi once again supported the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre in its fundraising activities by sponsoring the Run for Wildlife 2008 Marathon. On 31 May 2008 over 600 runners, and thousands of spectators, came together to participate in the event, which raised US$16 000 towards the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre’s work in providing a sanctuary space for rescued, confiscated, orphaned and injured wild animals of Malawi.

SPORT
2008 Lake Malawi Yachting Marathon
Nedbank Malawi sponsored the Malawi racing crew and their boat on the world’s longest fresh-water race at the 2008 Lake Malawi International Yachting Marathon championship. The 24-year-old race, which is held every year in July to take advantage of the south-easterly winds, spans 450km and lasts six days. The event included 22 participants from South Africa, Botswana and Malawi.
