CONSUMER EDUCATION

As a responsible banking organisation, Nedbank Group is aware of the dire need for effective financial education among South African consumers – particularly given the current difficult economic conditions. Consequently, the group places a high priority on educating consumers and clients wherever possible and a number of initiatives were undertaken in this regard in 2008.

All consumer training initiatives run by the bank are outcomes-based and aligned to the agreed industry standards. The group developed an education video in five official South African languages and partnered with many of its corporate banking clients to provide education to their staffmembers.

The following graph provides the spread of participants that were trained in 2008.
